
COAS Field Marshal Munir Engages Top Chinese Leadership During Official Visit

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir recently concluded a high-level official visit to China, where he met with senior military and political leaders to reinforce the strategic bond between the two nations, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During his stay in Beijing, Field Marshal Munir held discussions with key Chinese figures, including Vice President Han Zheng and Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The meetings centered on regional security, global developments, and progress under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The ISPR noted that both nations voiced satisfaction with the depth of their strategic engagement, pledging to uphold mutual respect, multilateral cooperation, and regional peace and stability.
China’s leadership commended the Pakistan Armed Forces for their steadfast role in maintaining peace in South Asia, describing them as a pillar of resilience in the region.
On the military side, the COAS held talks with General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), and other senior officers from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), including General Chen Hui and Lieutenant General Cai Zhai Jun. These meetings focused on military modernization, counterterrorism strategies, joint exercises, and improving institutional coordination. Emphasis was placed on enhancing interoperability to better counter hybrid and cross-border threats.
Chinese officials reiterated their full confidence in the Pakistan-China defence partnership and lauded Islamabad’s critical role in promoting regional peace.
Field Marshal Munir expressed gratitude for China’s consistent support and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding military cooperation across all areas.
Upon arriving at PLA Army Headquarters, the COAS was given a guard of honour, symbolizing the longstanding military camaraderie between the two nations.
The ISPR described the visit as a reflection of the deepening military and political ties between Pakistan and China, highlighting both countries’ shared commitment to fostering regional peace through continuous high-level dialogue.
China Reaffirms Support for Pakistan’s Counterterrorism Efforts
In a meeting with Field Marshal Munir, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi praised the Pakistani military as a steadfast defender of national interests and a strong pillar of China-Pakistan relations. According to Chinese state media outlet Xinhua, Wang stressed the importance of the military’s ongoing role in strengthening bilateral ties.
He reaffirmed China’s unwavering support on issues central to Pakistan’s national interests and emphasized Beijing’s readiness to collaborate closely with Islamabad in implementing the strategic consensus agreed upon by both nations’ leaders.
“China fully backs Pakistan’s determined fight against terrorism and expects the military to continue ensuring the security of Chinese citizens, projects, and organizations operating in Pakistan,” Wang stated.
In response, COAS Munir highlighted that the entire Pakistani nation values its relationship with China and appreciates the country’s continued support for Pakistan’s socio-economic progress.
He assured that the military will continue to take all necessary steps to safeguard Chinese interests within Pakistan and remains fully committed to strengthening anti-terrorism cooperation with China.
